GAYONG 2 ‘Meor Abdul Rahman’s Struggle to Combat Crime, Corruption & Abuse of Power’

After the success of the first film which was released last year, now the story of the Founder of Silat Gayong, the late Mahaguru Datuk Meor Abdul Rahman (ADMAR) continues in the film GAYONG 2 produced by SOL Pictures Sdn. Bhd. Not just a story about life as a silat teacher, Gayong 2 returns with a larger scale, deeper emotions and more complex conflicts.
Executive Producer, Khairul Anuar Latip said that this film takes ADMAR’s journey to a darker and more challenging phase of his life, no longer just as a warrior, but as a CID officer in the police force under British administration after World War II in Singapore.
“This film is still based on the real life of Dato’ Meor Abdul Rahman, especially his values, principles and life choices. However, it is presented in a dramatic and cinematic approach. It is not a documentary, but a work that highlights the power conflicts and emotional pressures that existed in the real world at that time,” he said.

Set in the post-war Malaya, when the country appears peaceful on the surface but is in turmoil from within, Gayong 2 delves into the moral dilemma of a man who holds on to his principles to combat the crimes of secret societies and corruption, as well as confronting the abuse of power and betrayal protected by the system. The film directed by Faisal Ishak still retains Beto Kusyairy as Meor as well as Nabila Huda and Syafie Naswip alongside the appearance of several other actors such as Fauzie Laily, Bobby Tonelli, Rabbit Chen, Hanna Aqeela and Ayez Shaukat. Interestingly, this film is also further enhanced by the appearance of Miss Malaysia 2024, Sandra Lim who is making her debut in a Malay epic film.

GAYONG 2 CAST LINE UP
Talking further about the production of the film Gayong 2, Khairul explained that ADMAR’s story should not stop as the history of the birth of a silat teacher alone. “In his life history, there was a very interesting and relevant phase, which was when he chose to fight against evil from within a system. Gayong 2 was born from the desire to tell this more complex struggle, about how someone who holds on to principles is tested when the truth itself becomes a threat,” he said.
Meanwhile, Faisal as the director stated that Gayong 2 is not just a continuation of the story, but a continuation of the legacy and responsibility. He said that this film does raise issues such as corruption, gangsterism and abuse of power, but at its core it is the story of a man caught between the principles of life and the safety of his family. “While the first film was more focused on introducing the world and spirit of martial arts, Gayong 2 delves into the price that must be paid to defend one’s personality and self-esteem. It is not just about action, but about identity and dignity. With a more mature narrative, sharper moral conflicts and more solid action, Gayong 2 is ready to become a local work that not only raises martial arts, but also the courage to defend principles in an imperfect world,” he explained.

He said that the filming of Gayong 2 will be carried out entirely from November to December 2024 and 100 percent of the location will be in Ipoh, Perak. As a director, Faisal hopes that this film will be closer to the audience because it plays with more intense emotions.
“I want viewers who watch this film to go home feeling proud of our heritage and at the same time entertained by a local action film made with all their heart. If there are viewers who go home thinking about their family, about their cultural roots, or about the life choices they have made, then this film has done its job,” he said.
Gayong 2 will start showing in cinemas nationwide starting 9 APRIL 2026.
